General Notices for Visitors
The rubrics of the Extraordinary Form of Mass require that Holy Communion be given on the tongue and kneeling. Those who cannot kneel because of illness, frailty or old-age are not obliged to kneel and are welcome to stand when receiving Holy Communion (though still on the tongue).
Parking – Do not park in the under-cover parking bay on the immediate left of Charles O’Neill Way. Parking is available further down, or on West St.
Please do not park in yellow-striped bay which is reserved for the St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol vans.
Please leave closer parking bays available for elderly and less mobile Mass-goers.
Profraternity of St. Mary Magdalen Retreat Day
The Profraternity of St. Mary Magdalen will be organising a public retreat day on Saturday, 19th October. They will be looking at various topics of Dominican spirituality and have Low Mass in the traditional Dominican Rite.

Novena to St. Francis of Assisi

First Holy Communion
Fr. Wong will meet the children who are making their First Holy Communion after the second Mass for a few classes: 29/9, 6/10, 20/10
Washrooms
Please be advised that the SVDP has asked us to close the door to the bathroom after we use it as strangers have not used the facility thoughtfully. Please use the code provided.
A portable bathroom is available behind the bell tower. If it is possible, please try not to use it during Mass. It would be easier for men to use this bathroom. Children must always be accompanied by a parent when using the facilities.
First Friday Mass
First Friday Mass will be the Mass of St. Francis. The intentions of the Mass will remain the same. There will be Eucharistic Exposition. The novena of St. Francis and the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart will be prayed.
Ember Days
This Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (18th, 20th, 21st September) are Ember days.
“For the fourth time in Her year, Holy Church comes claiming from Her children the tribute of penance, which, from the earliest ages of Christianity, was looked upon as a solemn consecration of the seasons. The Quator Tempora (four times) include the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of four separate weeks… We may consider it as one of those practices which the Church took from the Synagogue; for the prophet Zacharias speaks of the fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months (Zach. 8:19). Its introduction into the Christian Church would seem to have been made in the apostolic times; such, at least, is the opinion of St.Leo, of St.Isidore of Seville, of Rabanus Maurus, and of several other ancient Christian writers. …We have already spoken of the necessity of private penance for the Christian who is at all desirous to make progress in the path of salvation. But in this, as in all spiritual exercises, a private work of devotion has neither the merit nor the efficacy of one that is done in company with the Church, and in communion with Her public act; for the Church, as Bride of Christ, communicates an exceptional worth and power to works of penance done, in Her name, in unity with others. …Let us then fast and pray; and how numerous so ever may be the losses sustained in the Christian ranks, of those who once were faithful in practices of penance, let us not lose courage. Few as we may be, let us group ourselves round the Church and implore of Jesus, Her spouse, that He vouchsafe to multiply His gifts in those whom He is calling to the now more than ever dread honour of the Priesthood; that He many infuse into them His divine prudence, whereby they may be able to disconcert the plans of the impious; His untiring zeal for the conversion of ungrateful souls; His perseverance even unto death, in maintaining without reticence or compromise the plenitude of that truth which He has destined for the world, and the inviolate custody of which is to be, on the Last Day, the solemn testimony of the Bride’s fidelity…” (Dom Prosper Gueranger)
30th Anniversary of the Holy Cross Schola
We specially wish the Holy Cross Schola a very blessed 30th anniversary. We thank every member of the Schola past and present for all their work for God and the community.

This year, we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Holy Cross Schola. We thank every member of the Schola past and present for all their work for God and the Community. All schola members, choir members, servers (present and past) are welcomed to a small reception after Mass.
