General Notices for Visitors

The rubrics of the Extraordinary Form of Mass require that Holy Communion be given on the tongue and kneeling. Those who cannot kneel because of illness, frailty or old-age are not obliged to kneel and are welcome to stand when receiving Holy Communion (though still on the tongue).

Parking – Do not park in the under-cover parking bay on the immediate left of Charles O’Neill Way. Parking is available further down, or on West St.
Please do not park in yellow-striped bay which is reserved for the St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol vans.
Please leave closer parking bays available for elderly and less mobile Mass-goers.

Mothers’ Day stalls raised $806.25 for the parish.


Requiem Mass for those who have died in the service of the country will be held on Thursday 23rd of May at 7pm.


Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians is on Friday 24th of May. Mass will be at 7pm.

The Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians has been celebrated in Australia since 1844. Pope Pius VII was imprisoned by Napoleon Bonaparte at Fontainbleu. The military eventually forced Bonaparte to release the Pope and on May 24th 1814, Pope VII was able to return to Rome. As a form of thanksgiving, he decreed that the feast of Mary Help of Christians be celebrated on May 24th.


Rogation Days

“Days of prayer, and formerly also of fasting, instituted by the Church to appease God’s anger at man’s transgressions, to ask protection in calamities, and to obtain a good and bountiful harvest… The Rogation Days are the 25th April, called Major (organised by Gregory the Great), and the three days before the Feast of the Ascension, called Minor (established by St.Mamertus – 522AD).”

The Pilgrim Statue is on loan from Australia Needs Fatima for the next 2 weeks for the month of May. The Holy Rosary will be prayed before all Sunday Masses and before weeknight Masses as our Marian devotions for the month of May.


Mothers’ Day Stalls

To celebrate Mothers’ Day, we will have a variety of stalls in the courtyard next Sunday including cakes, flowers, creative gifts, pamper packs and Cloister Coffee. Donations of cakes, biscuits or slices to sell would be most appreciated! Please bring everything on disposable plates.

All proceeds go towards the parish. Thank you!

Holy Family Education resumes this Friday, 10th of May.
